Visit a Long Beach New York Dentist Before Your August Vacation

As a Long Beach New York dentist, we know that many New Yorkers like to head out of town in August for their annual summer vacation.  The city heat can be stifling and heading out to the shore is an excellent way to cool off. As a dentist, our goal is to make sure that your oral health is optimal so that you can enjoy your vacation without experiencing a sudden toothache and having a need to find an emergency dentist. With days of leisure ahead of you, it would be silly to take time away from your friends and family to sit in the dental chair. Instead, by scheduling a preventative appointment today, you can ensure that you are healthy and ready to enjoy your vacation.

How a Long Beach New York Dentist Can Help You

The thing that most people don't realize is that a change in dietary habits can lead to dental discomfort. Very often, this is because something like decay or a slight crack in a tooth is already in existence and then when sugary pie, cakes, and ice cream from the boardwalk are introduced into the equation, teeth can feel like they are on edge and all the sudden a terrible toothache develops. This is true with both children and adults. You never know what exactly is going to tip the scales to take a small cavity from manageable to uncomfortable.  This is why you should just visit our office and have your teeth examined so that we can remove any decay and restore any damage before you head out of town.  While here, we can help you by -

  • Cleaning your teeth.   While cleaning your teeth, we are removing plaque and tartar from your teeth that is built up in between dental cleanings. This is necessary for helping to reduce the likelihood that you will develop cavities or gum disease in the future. We recommend that you have your teeth cleaned twice a year so that we can assist you.
  • Checking for signs of decay.  While here, we will look for any signs of tooth decay. Cavities are incredibly common in both children and adults but if we can identify them quickly, we can remove the decay before it causes any irritation.
  • Fixing any cracked or chipped teeth.  If your teeth are cracked or chipped due to an accident, age, or even biting on a piece of ice, it is likely that you are experiencing some sensitivity but may not realize how severely damaged your teeth are. In this case, we will identify any cracks and chips during your dental exam and then restore your teeth using a solution like dental bonding. With dental bonding, we can place toot- colored bonding material onto your tooth and then shape it. We will then harden it using a dental light so that, by the time you leave our dental office, your damaged tooth will be fully restored and used without discomfort.
